Orthodontic Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea : A Systematic Review

Background: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is considered to be a real public health problem, often unrecognized or underdiagnosed, requiring multidisciplinary care including orthodontics that plays an essential role in the screening and management of ventilation. Objective: The aim our study explain important place orthodontic therapies, whether orthopedic surgical, OSA improvement nasal breathing through systematic review. Material methods: A search literature was performed following databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library . limited publications written English French from 2010 January 2022. Results: On basis keywords, eighty-three references were initially identified. After elimination duplicates, number articles reduced seventy-nine. titles abstracts made it possible select fifty articles. reading full text, sixteen included this Eight studies have investigated rapid maxillary expansion (RME), five evaluated effect mandibular advancement (MA) three genioplasty children with OSA. Conclusion: Orthodontic arsenal, orthopedic, orthodontic, surgical correction jaws, well suited extremely beneficial for treatment.
